math, also known as matt hindle, is a musician from sheffield, england - home of other such musical visionaries as the human league, cabaret voltaire and pulp. he has a similar approach to music as these heroes of his, making music that is at once popular and innovative, with one eye on the charts and another on the future.

having been interested in making music from a very early age, matt taught himself to play the guitar, keyboards, bass and drums, as well as how to programme sequencers and synthesisers. he featured in several sheffield bands, ranging from indie rock to experimental dance, and played a wide variety of instruments.

after the dissolution of his last band, math decided to go it alone, and recorded a demo of acoustic songs, whilst still working on the experimental electro music he had been interested in since childhood. he soon decided to combine both his twin loves of electronica and guitar pop, and math was born.

2009 is shaping up to be a promising year for math, with a single due for imminent release followed by an album, where the parallel lines meet, as well as serious record label interest from across the world.
